pornography: OMG, NEW STYLES

It's been awhile, but I come baring new styles :)

Style Number: 458786
About: A quick loading layout featuring Bruce from Finding Nemo (oh, how I love this movie). Feel free to change the pictures/whatever but keep the credits intact because I did all the coding.

Layout #2 Smallville (Tom Welling)
Style Number: 519121
About: Kind of green. Features Tom Welling (such a pretty boy). Lots of room for your links, etc. If you use this, feel free to change the pictures/whatever, just keep the credits intact. They're not that big.

Remember, you're welcome to take them but please comment and tell me if you do :)

ETA: I've lost my paid account status, so in order to get the preview links to work, you'll have to change the bolded part of the preview link (which is my username, eclipses) into your own username (or any other paid account username).

I love these! I'll take them both and leave credits intact in case I'll manage to change graphics. :)

I'll look at the other styles now. There's a change I'll take more! hehe ;)

Sun, Oct. 24th, 2004 12:10 pm (UTC)

This is what I got when trying to create the style for Smallville:

The style you're trying to make a new style from (519121) is not public, so you cannot copy it.

Sun, Oct. 24th, 2004 02:11 pm (UTC)

its public now, sorry bout that!

Sun, Oct. 24th, 2004 03:08 pm (UTC)

Thu, Oct. 28th, 2004 04:58 pm (UTC)

dory_is_my_idol: I need help.

I really like the Finding Nemo layout. How do I get it on my journal?

Tue, Nov. 30th, 2004 01:04 am (UTC)

I might use this style: http://www.livejournal.com/customview.cgi?username=pink_terror&styleid=532356
(from your old archives) but I am gonna edit it, and change the background and stuff, is that okay?

Wed, Dec. 1st, 2004 05:31 pm (UTC)

Hey, I'm really confused about using the layouts.. Do I have to have a paid accout to be able to use them? Also, what do I do with the number [eg - #519121]. Is there a website I need to go to to put the number in? Sorry, I'm not good at this sort of stuff, I only know how to do overrides.

Wed, Dec. 1st, 2004 06:35 pm (UTC)

you must be a paid member. Sorry.

Thu, Dec. 2nd, 2004 04:06 pm (UTC)

okay thanks :)

This user's account type is not permitted to create and embed styles.

Thu, Dec. 23rd, 2004 09:30 pm (UTC)

I no longer have a paid account. You'll have to put your username in where my is.

for example, the link to the finding nemo layout is

and you have to change it to
http://www.livejournal.com/customview.cgi?username=affirmative &styleid=458786
in order for it to work.

Fri, Mar. 4th, 2005 11:19 pm (UTC)

none of yer styles work.

Fri, Mar. 4th, 2005 11:23 pm (UTC)

Maybe you could try reading the entire entry :))

ETA: I've lost my paid account status, so in order to get the preview links to work, you'll have to change the bolded part of the preview link (which is my username, eclipses) into your own username (or any other paid account username).

Fri, Mar. 4th, 2005 11:28 pm (UTC)

no shit. i read that. and thats not what i meant. i meant when i use the style number none of them work i get an error, or it tells me i can use it, and it doesnt change on my page. so. ha.

Fri, Mar. 4th, 2005 11:35 pm (UTC)

Obviously you don't have a paid account. Only paid account users can use these styles. How you failed to realize that whe the community's userinfo page has it in big, bold lettering, I don't know. So. Ha.

Fri, Mar. 4th, 2005 11:36 pm (UTC)

obviously you dont understand what im getting at.

Fri, Mar. 4th, 2005 11:44 pm (UTC)

To be honest, no I don't. Maybe if you'd try and explain yourself clearer? With readable grammar and everything?

I have asked other people and the styles work just fine for them. Of course they won't work for you because you are not a paid user. You can't even preview the styles unless you are a paid user -or unless you type the username of an account that has been paid for.

http://www.livejournal.com/customview.cgi?username=wayfairer&styleid=458786 I've used a random paid members' name instead of my own or yours. Click this link and you'll be able to see style one.

Wed, Mar. 16th, 2005 07:08 pm (UTC)

Okay, here's a REAL question...which base style did you use? I put in the style number above but it couldn't find it....so now I'm wondering what base style you used, (if you did use one) so I can finally implement this in my own journal.

thefragile7393: And...I did it!

You're so sick of getting my Spam...I'm really sorry...I hate being stupid.

I created the whole wonderful style. Now how the heck do I use it???? It dosn't show up in my style list at all and am stuck in the default Boxer layout!

pornography: Re: And...I did it!

Hello :) I've tried to explain how to do it to people before and they all end up giving me "O.o" faces. I'm not a good teacher :|

There's a tutorial here thiat might prove helpful:

thefragile7393: Wow...you are so nice to have responded

I seriously thought you'd chew me out.
Here's where I got lost....please don't kill me yet!
I have the ID number for the whole style (458786)but where do I get the Lastn, Friends, Day, and Calander ID's? Believe me I REALLY searched in a non-panicky manner and right clicked on the different views in the style....and I never see any ID numbers show up in Properties, just the url for the exact page. I checked in the info area in the style browser...no ID's. I'm almost there, that's an awesome link you sent me! I just...can't find the 4 ID's anywhere.

1. First, you need to find out what the style ID is for the LASTN, FRIENDS, DAY, and CALENDAR views. If you're looking at public styles through the style browser, then you can find the style ID by right-clicking on the right frame and selecting "Properties" (IE browsers only... I'm probably a fool for not using Netscape, too, but sue me.) Under "Properties," you'll see the URL. The ID number is at the very end and should be a six-digit number. If you're looking at public styles through publicstyles, the author may have provided the ID number for you.

For the Complete style, the ID numbers are as follows*:
Lastn: 243820 Style sheet
Friends: 243887 Style sheet
Calendar: 243866 Style sheet
Day: 243880 Style sheet

2. Now that you've got that out of the way, you need to create a style. Select "Most Recent Events." There's a line that asks you to enter a non-system public style ID#. Punch in the ID for the LASTN view. In this case, it would be "243820". Go ahead and click on "Create Style."

pornography: Re: Wow...you are so nice to have responded

I didn't make styles for the friends, calendar and day. :| Too lazy, I'm afraid. All this means though is that you will see your friends page, etc in a different stlye -generator or one of those others.

thefragile7393: Re: Wow...you are so nice to have responded

Okay I followed all the steps. http://www.livejournal.com/customview.cgi?user=thefragile7393&styleid=575028
Do I HAVE to create different styles for calander, etc, or can I just leave them be? And do I have to use a layer to make the style show up as my journal? That's where I am right now...stuck as to how I make it show up as my journal once it's created.

Please tell me to buzz off if you get tired of me pestering you...I seriously won't get mad.

pornography: Got it

If I'm right, you've been using S2. This layout is put up using S1.

Go here: http://www.livejournal.com/customize/ and where it says "Choose style system" select old system (S1) from the drop down box. Then click on change.

After that just go here: http://www.livejournal.com/modify.bml
The layout should appear in the "Most Recent Events" drop down box.
