This journal is only used to maintain the community. If you wish to join the community you can do so here design_kitten

Link to us in your user info page and apply for membership. Once a member you can see screen cap previews of the layouts and the actual styles of the ones completed and ready for download.

You're talking to the right girl, just in the wrong place. -smiles-

Yup, I've already read all the rules and I know what 'linkware' means. I just hate to go through all of the trouble of linking, then applying for membership, then finding out it's not my cup of tea.

Oh well. I'll give it a try since you seem like a nice person.

Aw, well thank you for giving us a try. -smiling- Hey, if it is not your thing, I understand. You know what it is? There are always the few who ruin it for the masses.

I've been taken advantage of before, hence why it is a closed community. You know though, the thought of a "preview" in the user info is a good idea. I might do that. -smiles- Thanks again.

Mm, I really don't bother with people who lack the balls to post under their own username. -smirks-

Right on. -smiling- It's fun and hey, there is no harm in it. People need to learn how to chill out a little. -grins-

*wrinkles nose* Is this ok here? Meaning, does the owner of publicstyles approve of other community owners plugging other communities that offer LJ styles?

Personally, I joined this community to find public styles easier, not to get hit to join a bunch of other communities. Hopefully the owner of this community will see this and reply so I know if I should expect these kind of plugs here or not...

All posts on this community are moderated. As long as posts are about a pubic style it is then appropriate to the community. (In other words, yes, not only was it okay for me to post this here, but it had to be "approved" first.)

Ah. I was unaware that posts here were moderated...

Just seems odd that you have to be 'approved' to join your community... yet you get to call the styles 'public'. Doesn't seem all that public to me if I have to join another new community to see them.

But my question was answered, so thank you for that.

I join these types of communities more often to learn and be inspired by what I see rather than to use, but on the rare occasion that I do find something I like that I cannot make on my own, I always give full credit to the original designer. Proof of such can be witnessed on my current [and past] layout, which was not originally intended for LiveJournal use. Although I modified it greatly, I did not credit myself in the process, as it is not "my" design, and for these reasons I did not make it a public style.

I think you may be limiting yourself in potential membership by asking to be linked before approval, and by denying those who do not do this, membership to your community. I'm interested to see what you've got going there, but I don't like that I have to link you first, especially when I more than likely won't be using the styles.

If my intention was to have as many members as possible, I would have opted for an open community. If I wanted, I could have over 300 members by now. Having as many "members" as possible is not my intention. The intention of the community is to have people who wish to use my styles, not just "look" around. I do not wish to lump people in the same group, so do not take offense but my experience with those who just want to become inspired by my work are people, who more often than not have just copied my style and then want to claim originality.

I have been copied and stolen from more times than I need to remember. For every 2 people that are honest there are another 3 that are not. You can thank those people for the reason why many of these style communities are becoming so strict with who views their work. I do this to have, in a limited way, control over who has access to my work for now.

I am sorry that you feel you should mot have to link back to join my community (and obviously you do not have to do it if it goes against how you feel) but that requirement is there with a reason and serves the purpose well. There are many style communities out there that do not have such requirements in which you can find inspiration. You might even see some of my own styles floating around. As for my requirement for a link back in my userinfo. It stands.

Thanks for you input.
